Christmas Eve at Joe Squared

I wasn't sure who would show up on a cold New Year's Eve, but in fact, some friends and fans showed up, and the small crowd didn't mind that I dug out some Christmas Carols. It turned out actually, that the book I had found in my Grandfather's antique file drawer cabinet was his, published in 1935. I love starting songs with a verse, then doing several rounds of piano only, mixing up the mood from pensive to intense, then bringing in a few more verses.

I think it went over well, and I also played some of my covers, and originals. The hot toddy that they gave me from the bar helped my scratchy throat, and of course, I finished the night with some delicious risotto.

Great gig at the Whistling Oyster on Friday

I played with Missy Smith (aka Queen Earth) and Brooks Long, who stayed for the later set. Great crowd, lots of beautiful music. This is a new spot for me; the next date on November 19th. I'm really looking forward to it; hoping to bring in another singer-songwriter to share the evening. Good food (I had delicious potato leek soup, and asparagus), and a nice selection of drinks. It's a quaint bar, with a wood-burning fireplace in the dining room, right on the square, and always has a decent crowd of music-loving, mellow folks, out for a good time.

Terra Cafe Artist Hang Spot Monday Nights

Love the new artist/musician hang out spot on Mondays at Terra Cafe in Charles Village. It's a warm vibe with Jahiti from Brown Fish, and great food. Bring a guitar, piano, or your voice....
